This is the second term's opening omnibus — a joint-session address of nearly two hours that is, in constitutional terms, the twin of the February 2026 State of the Union (0700), and it scores in the same top-band neighborhood. It develops the America First agenda across a wide front, each theme substantively argued: controlled borders as the dominant block (VI); draining the administrative state through DOGE and deregulation (XII); tax cuts, reciprocal tariffs, enterprise (IX); drill baby drill energy dominance (XIII); tough-on-crime law and order (XVIII); the integrity of the family with an education dimension — only two genders, banning transgender ideology in schools (IV); the faith of the founders — I was saved by God (XI); and a forceful restoration of free expression — I have stopped all government censorship and brought back free speech (VII). Two features distinguish it from its SOTU twin, one lifting and one tempering. It is stronger on Honest Money (X): where the SOTU left the debt untouched, this address names it directly — balance the federal budget, reduce our debt — a genuine fiscal-discipline commitment. But it is weaker on Peace Through Strength (XVI): the peace-framed Ukraine posture (time to halt the killing) is paired with overt territorial expansionism — reclaiming the Panama Canal and inviting Greenland into the United States — straining the non-interventionist clause in a way the SOTU's cleaner war-ending framing did not. On the Automatic-Fail axis it runs the right way on all five: cuts taxes rather than raising, restores speech rather than censoring, secures the border rather than opening it, freezes foreign aid rather than advocating it. Tier 1 nets to 83; with a combative, triumphal Tier 2, the result is 80 — America First.
